Rangiora residents take the plunge to support stroke victims

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

North Cantabrians took the plunge to raise $11,000 to support stroke victims in our community.

The annual Charles Upham Big Splash was held at the Rangiora RSA Club last month, raising funds for the Rangiora Stroke Club.

Rangiora Promotions spokeswoman Belinda Topp said participants were encouraged to gather donations and sponsorship before "taking the plunge" in to a pool of cold water in the middle of winter.

"We are thrilled with the outcome of this year's Charles Upham Big Splash as we achieved exactly what we set out to – a much larger amount raised for the club and further awareness," she said.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
