Waimakariri District Council plans for rapid population growth
The Waimakariri District Council has promised to invest more in community facilities as it forecasts a massive increase in population.
The council's 2018-28 long-term plan has signalled an expected population boost of 64 per cent over the next 30 years, to almost 100,000 residents.
Mayor David Ayers says the council needs to work hard to ensure core public services are delivered well as the district braces for an influx of residents.
Some Choice News!

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
