Book donations
UPDATE:
Thanks for all the lovely book donations! We are overflowing with books now, thanks to everyone!! We are in the process of painting an old fridge to use as the library/bookswap, so will make a new post when it is ready to go!
Hi all,
My husband and I are in the process of setting up a book swap/mini library in Spring Creek, where people can borrow a book, or take one in return for leaving another behind. There are 3 similar boxes running in Wairau Valley and 1 in St Arnaud that I know of, as well as many others around the country and the world.
To be able to stock it, I would love donations of any books you have that you don't want anymore. I can pick these up and store them until it is up and running, and use any left overs to fill gaps as it starts getting used.
We will have a Facebook page to follow, and I will post this once it is up and running

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.1% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.4% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
15.5% ... It is complicated
Dehorners
SharpAs Tool Tips
Pictured is a set of dehorners brought in for sharpening. Like all cutting tools, a sharp edge is essential for them to work efficiently and cleanly.
Good to see that pain relief is now part of the process as well.
