Cabbage tree (0530-1)

Paul from Levin

Ti kouka or cabbage tree. Why would it have been called a "cabbage tree"? It certainly does not look like the cabbages I grow but I think I learned that a particular part was/is eaten. Perhaps that part tastes like a cabbage? Anyone know why it was called a cabbage tree? What do "ti kouka" or its other Maori names mean?

Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
