Horowhenua District Council election candidate

Athol from Levin

Hello. I’m Athol Kirk, an independent election candidate for the Horowhenua District Council, Levin Ward. I write this to tell you a little about myself and why I believe I can be a positive influence in the council.

I have three grandchildren, under 10 years old, living in levin. Observing climate change, here and around the world, has me deeply concerned for the world that my grandies will have to have to live work and survive within. I will work hard to ensure that the council meets, or preferable exceeds, all of its climate change and environmental protection aims. I want the following generations of Horowhenua, New Zealand and all of the world to have a healthy environment to live within.

My Bachelor of Health Science degree, majored in Environmental Risk Management has equipped me with the tools for environmental protection, resource management and public safety.

More and more people and businesses are finding Horowhenua to be an attractive location to live and operate. To accommodate this growth considerable infrastructure needs to be constructed. It will be my aim to ensure that it is planned and constructed with full and deep consideration for the environment and the future

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

Time to Tickle Your Thinker 🧠

The Riddler from The Neighbourly Riddler

If a zookeeper had 100 pairs of animals in her zoo, and two pairs of babies are born for each one of the original animals, then (sadly) 23 animals don’t survive, how many animals do you have left in total?
