Poll: Shuffle resources or shuffle people?

Reporter Manawatū Standard

Mōrena kiritata,

Some patients from Eketāhuna have been allowed to go to Masterton hospital for treatment rather than drive more than double the distance to Palmerston North hospital.

Patients in the small southern Tararua town were being turned away by the Wairarapa District Health Board because resources are stretched in Masterton.

But there's still restrictions in place.

Do you think patients should have to travel more than an hour for care if there's a closer hospital?

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
