This means the tension from the belt pulls the motor out of alignment and the belt just comes off. I can't think of how to fix this easily but if you can fix it then this will be a perfectly good clothes dryer.
Alternatively it has a great little 1/4 (quarter) horse power motor you could use to drive a workshop machine.
