The popular Cape Brett Track, from Oke Bay to Cape Brett lighthouse, will remain open.

The company is a partnership between Maungatāpere Berries, Ngāpuhi Asset Holding Company and Far North Holdings, and one of the first tenants at Ngāwhā Enterprise and Innovation Park.
At its peak, 80 full-time staff and 120 seasonal staff will work at the orchard - which aims to keep staff happy with flexible hours and good pay.

The Awanui River has responded well to this week’s rainfall with levels now holding well above minimum consent levels set by Northland Regional Council. In response, the Far North District Council is removing Level 2 water restrictions banning the use of irrigation systems and sprinklers for households and businesses connected to the Kaitāia supply.
General Manager – Infrastructure and Asset Management, Andy Finch, says a substantial dump of autumn rain across Northland this week has seen water flows in the Awanui River stabilise.
This means that all eight Council water supplies are now on Level 1. This applies no limit to water use, although customers should always use water sensibly.

Wayne and Kate (the owners) have been trying to support all the locals' sports clubs and businesses with great service and going that extra mile to honestly help. Wayne is also an extroverted performer and has given his time to clubs and organisations in Whangarei free of charge to play music and MC events so they can get some money back into their coffers and stay afloat in a most difficult year. He really has brought some life back into the community and although he will disagree with me he should be acknowledged and rewarded for all the hard work he does."

Keith Earl has been picking up rubbish three days a week in Kerikeri for the past ten years. Originally Keith began walking for exercise, but he couldn't help but notice all the waste that was scattered roadside in his community, and that is when he started picking it up.
When we found out … View moreKeith Earl has been picking up rubbish three days a week in Kerikeri for the past ten years. Originally Keith began walking for exercise, but he couldn't help but notice all the waste that was scattered roadside in his community, and that is when he started picking it up.
When we found out what Keith was doing for the community 6 years ago, we decided to provide him with 15 bags a month which he fills with the waste he picks up. When Keith has filled a bag, he leaves it in a special collection spot where our drivers pick it up; alternatively, if our drivers spot him, they'll stop, empty his bag and give it back so he can continue.
Keith's message to the Kerikeri community is to be proud of the place you live and pick up your rubbish, simple as that. When you see Keith on the streets cleaning up Monday, Wednesday and Friday, make sure to give him a toot of support for all the incredible work he's is doing in our town.
