Family turn to natural therapy after 18-year-old given only weeks to live

Kia ora neighbours, a whānau have turned to alternative therapies after 18-year-old Rakau Andrews was told by doctors he may only have weeks left to live.

Marcus Iraia, Andrews’ uncle, said the teenager had been diagnosed as having an “aggressive rare brain cancer”, called central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma, in February.

Andrews has spent months in Auckland City Hospital, far away from his home in Waimamaku in the Far North’s Hokianga Harbour.

Events include swimming, bowls, cycling, relay walking and Quiznastics. To up the ante, we’ve incorporated technology solutions to enhance events and to enable residents to connect with all 41 Ryman villages, including those across the Tasman, while they compete!

Sadly, Northland police have found a body in their search for missing Whangaroa man, Charles Strange.
The body was located near Whangaroa Marina on Monday night. While formal identification is yet to be carried out, police believe the body to be 95-year-old Strange, who was reported to police as missing on Sunday.
The sailor, known as Chaz, was last seen on Wednesday.
He is described as a "local legend", who was friendly, humble and a good writer.
