Meet Christina Nuku who graduated with a double major in Indigenous Studies and Policy. Through Awanuiārangi, Christina went on a 3-month indigenous knowledge exchange programme at the University of Northern British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She shares “the exchange connected me with the Nisga’a people, First Nations tribal systems, communities and hauora programmes. It informed my studies and opened my mind. It was a genuine privilege to connect with the tangata whenua there, and an opportunity I would never otherwise have had”

Are you stressed out with Christmas just around the corner? Here at Coffee Cheese ‘n Crackers we aim to provide a safe and confidential place to have a chat with others who may be having a hard time too, or people who have been through it before. None of us are mental health professionals, we are just people with personal experience.
We are having our last meeting of the year this Friday at Linton Park Community Centre between 6pm and 7:30pm. Coffee, tea and nibbles provided!
Come for a chat, a vent, to meet people, to find support, or just for the feed! After all, in the spirit of the holidays we will be having a classic kiwi pav!
Hope to see some of you there!
Thank you New Zealand. Your nominations helped us find a local hero for every Countdown store in the country.
Every store’s winner receives a $500 Countdown Gift voucher in recognition of helping make our community a better place.

This is at a time when there are so many people in our area who are living below the poverty line and are finding bit hard to live on a daily basis. We have children going to school without breakfast or lunch. This is where our elected councilors should be focusing and I suggest they donate all their pay rises to charity where as a city we will be able to assist those in need.
