The local media is on again about the juicy hot button of homelessness which is a manifestation of our society's obsession with owning more houses than we need on the back of capital gain and negative gearing.The answer is for our central government to build more houses for people who can not afford to rent at market rates.With our NZ 2017 elections due in Sept.I shall be looking very closely at the housing policy of all contending political parties and voting accordingly.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
