Police apologise for how they treated Inspector Bruce Horne: 'We could have done better'
A senior police commander who racked up driving infringements prior to his sudden departure has received an apology from his bosses.
Police acknowledge they "could have done better" in issuing him his long service award and on other occasions on which he felt let down.
Inspector Bruce Horne, area commander of Rotorua until his retirement at the end of last year, claims the driving incidents were used by police to get rid of him.
