Fire risk now ’extreme’ in the Bay of Plenty
The fire risk across most regions of New Zealand is now extreme.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand is asking the public to be vigilant as the environment is like a dry piece of tinder, just waiting to go up in flames.
Fire bans are in place in Northland, Auckland, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty/Central North Island, Christchurch City and Banks Peninsular, Nelson, Marlborough and Central Otago. Read more on SunLive

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
