The intention of this group is to be able to connect with those in my neighbourhood in a, as maori would say 'kanohi ki te kanohi' or face to face in the flesh forum. Call it a meeting of neighbours discussing things like news, current events and also asking for and offering advice about the issues of life. The group has been going for over a month and it has been really special. I am a born again Christian and I offer up my bible based views into the discussion. So as you can imagine, the discussion involving Israel Folaus comments recently was eventful to say the least. And the group is continually growing too with a bunch of really awesome people. So come along to 30 Burton Place, Owhata tonight at 7pm. Please bring a plate for potluck afterwards. My name is Graham 0275119366
PS : The ages of those attending are so varied. Bar the kids (for there are a few) the youngest attending is 18 through to our oldest 70)

St John's message this winter

The Team from St John New Zealand

This winter, St John urges the public to prioritise health & wellbeing. The most important thing you can do is be immunised against influenza and seek advice from a health professional if you are unwell. Each winter the surge of 111 ambulance calls continues to increase, which despite St John’s best efforts to triage and treat people in-home, places a lot of pressure on the ambulance service and the hospital emergency departments.

St John has issued five key messages to the public to help them look after themselves and each other this winter – read them here: goo.gl...

Hi, I am aware this may be a long shot. I am looking on behalf.
Dad with 2 kids and large dog is looking for a temporary home (6 months approx) while house gets renovated after being affected by flooding. Dog can stay outside and chained if needed.
no area preference as long as its safe and preferably fenced because of dog.
No references available as he has been home-owner for 15 years but can pay bond and rent in advance up to $450 per week.
The sooner the better as childrens health is affected.
Thank you

The incidence of bowel cancer in younger adults is rising in New Zealand. 10% of bowel cancer patients are under 50 – that’s more than 300 a year. Each year about 3,000 New Zealanders are diagnosed with the disease and more than 1,200 will die. That’s as many as breast and prostate cancer combined.

National Volunteer Week celebrates the 1.2 million Kiwis who volunteer in our communities every year. The theme for 2018: Volunteers, The Heart of our Community – By many, the work will be completed, Mā tini, mā mano, ka rapa te whai, captures the essence of the volunteering spirit and the essential link between volunteers and the communities who benefit from their generosity. The event will run from June 17-23, 2018.
