It seems, perhaps as a result of her questioning, the South Waikato District Council has changed its tune on allowing residents to fly their small drones in the town's largely deserted parks, and that's a win for everyone.

The unequivocal statement by the council that there is "no rule" to stop people flying their drones in Tokoroa has come as welcome news to many people in this town. Already a surprising number of locals have contacted me to say that they will be either buying a drone or flying the drones they already have as a result of this news from council.

To ensure that people fly safely and understand the relevant CAA regulations, I have posted a video to YouTube in which I celebrate the council's change of heart by flying a couple of my small drones at Strathmore Park. It's worth looking at the comments on this video (which at the time of posting this message has already had over 5,000 views) because it shows world-wide support for the council's about-face on this issue.

Again, good work Tamara and thank you South Waikato News.
