Calling all Rotorua's Irish! (Immigrants or kiwis of Irish descent.
I while ago, I was asked whether there would be much city interest in Rotorua holding a Saint Patrick's Day celebration...
I read the phone book. Jaysus, how may Irish surnames are listed there! (Don't worry - I'm not calling anyone.)
We have two Catholic Churches.
We have two Catholic secondary schools.
We've seen how busy the Irish pubs (and those serving Guiness) get on 17th March...and figure what a boost to their takings the day must bring.
We've stopped to listen and watch Irish bands and buskers on The Day.
So there, here I am, asking "how many people in Rotorua would like to see a St. Paddy's Day Parade?
(I reckon, every odd-numbered year...'cos we're a pretty odd lot, yeah?)
All I want you to do, is Reply, with a "Yes, to be sure." (and maybe tell whether your Irish is direct, or ancestry)
Thank you so much.
(Pure Irish descent on me dah's side, from the first to come to NZ as a Fencible to protect the Māori and settlers of Otahuhu)
