A front is expected to approach the lower South Island from the southwest Tuesday evening, with westerly gales affecting the far south Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
This watch is for the possibility that westerly winds may approach severe gale strength in exposed parts of coastal Southland including Stewart Island, also about southeastern parts of Clutha during Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
Valid: 8 hours from 9:00pm Tuesday to 5:00am Wednesday
Forecast: Westerly gales, may approach severe gale in exposed parts at times.
