As we prepare to move to Level 3 lockdown tonight I want to thank the people of Tasman for doing such an amazing job following the Level 4 lockdown rules.

According to google tracker we were the top region for cutting down our non-essential travel early on in lockdown, and I think the results speak for themselves. No new cases of Covid-19 in our region for the last two weeks, no clusters, no deaths.

My heartfelt thanks to the amazing essential workers, parents, grandparents, youth, and kids who followed the rules of Level 4 lockdown.

With Level 3 lockdown, libraries and playgrounds are still closed. I have made a short fun video to share with you about services our libraries are still offering. The link is here...

www.youtube.com...

Finally...if you are a business trying to find new ways to operate under Level 3 lockdown check out the website www.shoplocally.co.nz...

Shoplocally Marketplace is available for all businesses in the Tasman and Nelson region who want a quick and easy way to set up an online store.

This is for local businesses to get ready to trade in time for the change to Alert Level Three. The system has no upfront costs and no monthly fees, just a generous couple from Motueka wanting to help Nelson Tasman businesses to thrive once more.

Anzac Day in lockdown

Cherie Sivignon Reporter from The Nelson Mail

Despite the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, many people in the Nelson-Tasman region remembered the fallen on Anzac Day. They did so in many ways such as standing at the end of their driveways, hanging a colourful tribute, laying a wreath or playing the Last Post. What did you do?

The scenes are all within walking distance of my house. It is so wonderful to see people finding new ways to celebrate and honour our war veterans. My father (now deceased) served in the Korean War and it was an honour lay a wreath today on behalf of all those who have served New Zealand and their families.

In keeping with Covid lockdown rules the wreath was placed by me with only my family bubble in attendance to mark the occasion, but I wanted to share this moment with you.

Stay safe. Stay home. Be Kind.

ANZAC Day will be marked a little differently this year. We’ll be warm and cosy at home and The Last Post won’t start until you press play. But one thing will be the same – remembrance.

To help us remember those who served and understand what ‘to serve’ meant, Ryman recorded their ANZAC resident’s stories. Some are humorous, others are tragic and eye-opening, but they all offer insight into the courage, bravery, and determination required to serve.

What better way to remember than to read the memories of those who were there?
