Industrial action at Nelson & Wairau Hospitals
Industrial action will affect the provision of radiology services (X-ray, CT & MRI) in Nelson and Wairau Hospitals on Monday and Wednesday.
Please note: Ultrasound services are unaffected.
All hospitals nationwide are preparing for a further strike by Medical Imaging Technologists (MITs) who are covered by the Association of Professional and Executive Employees (APEX) collective employment agreement.
Some of our MITs will participate in a 24-hour withdrawal of labour from:
1. 0700 Monday 14 October to 0700 Tuesday 15 October and
2. 0700 Wednesday 16 October to 0700 Thursday 17 October.
Our contingency planning team has worked hard to minimise the potential effects of the strike on patient care, prioritising the continuation of emergency and urgent services during the strike.
The provision of radiology services at Nelson & Wairau Hospitals, including the Emergency Departments, will be affected during the periods of industrial action.
Thank you for your patience.
