Harcourts want to make you aware of the growing threat of rental scams, particularly those found on social media platforms.
Initially, tenants should view a property before paying any money, as generally genuine landlords and property managers would arrange for a prospective tenant to view a property before signing an agreement or paying any money.
In addition to the above, please remember that all communication regarding tenancy applications, offers, and requests for tenancy agreements will only come from an official email address ending in @harcourts.co.nz.
If someone tries to contact you through a different method or social media platform, it could be a scam.
We strongly recommend that tenants verify the legitimacy of rental listings and exercise caution with any communications or emails not originating from an official Harcourts email address, such as from a generic email provider such as @gmail.com, @xtra.co.nz, @yahoo.com etc.
