Oxford Community Garden
Due to ongoing vandalism and destruction in the Garden, we are no longer going to grow vegetables there. They are pulled out, thrown around and used to block the Pearson Park toilets which is wasteful and discouraging. We are going to turn it into a Bee and Insect friendly Garden instead and grow flowers and herbs that provide food for the Bees. Join us if you'd like to help in, or contribute to this project. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
