Live: Highways flooded, Akaroa underwater as evacuations continue across Canterbury

Jake Kenny Reporter from Community News

Hi neighbours,

Monday is day two of persistent, heavy rain that's caused severe flooding in parts of Canterbury.

Canterbury faces severe floods, evacuations, power cuts and rising rivers, with warnings more rain is on the way.

A state of local emergency has been declared for the whole region of Canterbury following heavy rain and flooding.

Rising river levels forced the urgent evacuation of more than 240 homes in North Canterbury.
