Recycling comes to Cust

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

Rural residents near Cust area no longer need to drive to Oxford or Rangiora to deal with recyclables. Following requests from the community, the council investigated and approved a new drop-off facility, located behind the Cust Hotel. It is the first of its kind in the district, and will be trialled for one year.

"If this goes as well as we hope, not only will the service continue, but it's possible we could provide drop-off facilities in similar rural areas of the district, who don't receive a kerbside collection service," councillor Robbie Brine said.

The Cust Community Network, along with residents, joined mayor David Ayers and Brine at 2pm on Sunday to celebrate its opening. The centre will be open to the public from Monday and will be open seven days a week between 7am and 10pm.

Christmas Spirit

Allan from Rangiora

Went to New World Christmas Eve brought some groceries and as I went to pay a
very kind Lady behind me in the queue reached out and paid for my purchase.
The world still has some wonderful people in it even in these troubled times.
