Help in finding work for an 18yr old
Hi everyone:) So I have an 18yr old son who is suddenly decided to leave school with only limited work experience mainly babysitting and odd lifestyle block jobs for family as he was concentrating on studies. He has NCEA level 1 and 2 so we've tried all supermarkets, fast-food places, and everything else is experience experience experience arghh haha - anyone else had a kid in this boat?? any ideas on what else/where else to try?? Also someone suggested to put him on the unemployment benefit as its easier to get entry level jobs through WINZ?? Not overly keen on this as don't want him to have any excuse to sit on his bum!! Half problem is that he has no idea what he wants to do so any opinions/ideas gratefully received!!
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.3% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.4% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
15.3% ... It is complicated
