Hey neighbours,

My name is Jake, I'm The Press newspaper's newly appointed Neighbourly reporter for Canterbury and the South Island. I've worked in Stuff's Christchurch newsroom for ten months now where I previously covered breaking news. Neighbourly is growing as a popular tool to access local news and keep in touch with those around us, which we often miss with national media outlets. I'm here to bring you the news closest to you in a role which will work similarly to a community newspaper reporter.

If you have any stories or interesting things happening in your suburb or area, please get in touch!

If you see news posted in your area, please get involved and reply with your comments/thoughts on the issues at hand. I'm all for robust discussion and a bit of banter never went a miss.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to chatting with you all!

- Jake

Belbrook Dynamic Vanessa EX5, of Rangiora, has been classified excellent for a fifth time at the ripe old age of 18.

She is owned by brothers Robbie and John Wakelin, of Belbrook Holsteins, who said they were elated with the achievement.

“It’s quite rare. Dairy cows work a lot harder these days and don’t often live long enough to meet the required criteria," John says.

Kaiapoi’s Peraki St was meant to form part of the Waimakariri District Council’s new Belfast to Kaiapoi cycleway, but residents say they have safety concerns due to the potential increase in cyclists, reduction in parking, and the effect of proposed traffic-calming measures including speed humps.
