Queenstown airport - evacuated
People have been evacuated and are being urged to stay away from Queenstown Airport
What you need to know:
- Queenstown airport activated its emergency security protocols at approximately 8:40am this morning following a "potential bomb alert".
- The situation is being investigated by NZ Police and Aviation Security.
- Emergency services were called and the airport terminal has been evacuated as a precaution.
- Flights bound for Queenstown are being diverted.
- The airport advises: "All passengers due to depart Queenstown today, and those expecting to meet incoming flights, are asked not to come to the airport until advised otherwise."
Airport staff are working with airlines to ensure the safety of all passengers at this time. Further updates can be read on Stuff here.
