Postponed International Women's Day rescheduled
Franklin women were not the only ones to be disappointed by the lockdown at the beginning of March, it effected many events.
However all is not lost, even though Franklin was sad not to be able to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 6th, we are rescheduling the event and connecting it with another milestone in the history of NZ and women’s success. Suffrage Day is Sept 19 and our celebration will be combined with this day but we will celebrate it on Saturday Sept 18th at the Pukekohe Cosmopolitan Club, SO PLEASE SAVE the DATE.
The programme will remain much the same as it was going to be on March 6th . There was so much enthusiasm at the rehearsal the week before the IWD celebration and I know we will have that in buckets full in Sept.
The tickets purchased for IWD will be honoured for September 18th. However if a refund is required please make the request to bpwfranklin.tickets@gmail.com and please provide the bank account number so direct credits can be made. All the people working on this are volunteers so please be patient as there may be some delay in getting the refunds sorted.
We look forward to your continued enthusiasm and support for this event.
Remember to SAVE THE DATE Sept 18th
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
58.4% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.8% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
15.8% ... It is complicated
A Neighbourly Riddle! Don’t Overthink It… Or Do?😜
Do you think you know the answer? Simply 'Like' this post if you know the answer and the big reveal will be posted in the comments at 2pm on the day!
If you multiply this number by any other number, the answer will always be the same. What number is this?
Illegal dumping
This is awful how people just disregard bylaws. dump their rubbish in parks and waterways to try get away with having to pay dumping costs at the rubbish dumps and transfer stations. This also can cause flooding again due to blocking the grate of the culvert in Princes street. No thought for neighbours or damage that can be caused by their actions.
