Bring a friend (who has not yet attended Karaka Toastmasters) this Wednesday evening and you will receive a prize! Toastmasters provides a friendly and supportive environment to develop your public speaking and leadership skills. Come along to Karaka War Memorial Hall, 319 Linwood Rd on Wednesday evening. There will be two icebreaker (first) speeches, an advanced speech and opportunities for everyone to speak! Free! We'd love you to join us! We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
