Poll: Proposed speed limit changes in Franklin
A controversial plan by Auckland Transport to slash speed limits on hundreds of Auckland roads has many motorists hot under the collar, but some locals welcome the news.
800 roads in Auckland and the surrounding region could see speed limit changes should the bylaw, that began consultation last month, go through. The new proposal would see the speed limit on Cape Hill Rd changed from 100kmh to 60kmh, with many other major rural roads in the region dropping to 80kmh.
What are your thoughts? Are you for or against the changes? Do you think speeds on our rural roads are a problem - or is it the underdeveloped roads that are the problem?
-
45% All for the proposed changes - our limits need reducing
-
55% The limits in Franklin are fine as they currently are

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2
From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).
During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.
There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
