"Continuing with the Christmas theme, this seems like a face only a mother could love. Like somehow evolution decided to put the turkey's guts on the outside of his neck, and what even is that dangly appendix bit between his eyes? Wiki says the longer your snood the more likely you are to successfully mate. No wonder he looks grumpy with all that going on on his face (although that could also be the time of year - December and American accents are known to cause extreme stress to his species). Male turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) in full sail. Staglands."

During 2020 they took part in a military camp at Waiouru with over 1000 other cadets from across New Zealand. Over the course of a week they got to take part in abseiling, mountain biking, sailing, archery, flying, camping and a myriad of other activities.
A number of the cadets went to RNZAF Ohakea to complete training courses and again Porirua won the top student for central district on the junior NCO course.
The unit has been recognised by the Duke of Edinburgh award and is now a registered award facilitator allowing our young people to complete the award through the year.
The Duke of Edinburgh award is recognised in over 170 countries it also allows participants to gain extra NCEA credits.
The unit has grown over the course of the year and also gained a new unit commander and a number of new officers.
They will be having an open night on the January 27 at the Cadet buildings in Ngati Toa Domain. 6B Pascoe Avenue Paremata.

With Christmas fast approaching, we'd be keen to hear from those who spend the festive season (or part of it) away each year. Where do you go and why? What makes it such a great place to be at this time of year? What are you most looking forward to about the trip? Any words of advice you may have on things to do or places to eat or drink in the area would also be much appreciated. As usual, please put 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it included in a travel article. Cheers.

The Plimmerton Flood Action Group has formed after a torrential downpour, combined with a mid-morning king tide, left 16 homes uninhabitable among 60 properties damaged by floodwaters on November 29.
The group presented a five-point action plan to Porirua City Council on Wednesday, however council chief executive Wendy Walker conceded “not all of [the group's requests] were possible”.
