Bikes in school a big hit for Titahi Bay School
Mass bike-riding is the best thing that’s ever happened at Titahi Bay School, principal Kerry Delaney says.
“Biking can benefit those who struggle with school or home,” Delaney said.
If things had gone wrong at home, or someone told them off, children got on a bike at school and left those issues behind.
“It’s not just about learning to ride a bike; it’s about feeling good about yourself.”
Titahi Bay School established a fleet of bikes in 2014 as part of the Porirua Bikes in Schools project after students raised money for the bikes and a modified shipping container to store them in.
