We expect to hit 50,000 this month and are watching closely and making plans. Will you be the lucky person who enjoys our 50,000th cheese scone?!
Visit El Porteño for a cheesy treat!

We need more volunteers to join our team so that we can continue the important work in the local community. We have vacancies for volunteers to assist us with food rescue (Monday to Sunday) and sorting and boxing up of non-food donations (Tuesday to Thursday).
Every day kiwis find themselves in need: a mother and her children shifted to avoid family violence and needing support; children going hungry at school or others down on their luck.
We have 74 volunteers who provide all the manpower required to run our operations and all donated food and goods that are fit for purpose are passed on to front line charities for FREE.
KCA is small; KCA is fast; KCA is flexible, and we help many in need.
Please note reliability and responsibility are key attributes that we require of our volunteers. All volunteers need to be able to lift 20kg boxes of food (between 2 people) and commit to volunteering with KCA for three months. To volunteer with KCA you must be 14 years old or more.
Please go to our website to read the volunteering opportunities, job descriptions etc. Our volunteer application form is also online for you to complete.
No time wasters please.

FEB 2018 STATS
It still amazes me how much work our 72 volunteers do each month with the generosity of you the general public and our food sponsors.
For the 28 days in February we distributed a WHOPPING 16,638.92 kgs of food (fresh, frozen and non-perishable). In the North Island we had 2 pallets of frozen food stock donated to us by Heinz Watties in the Hawkes Bay. We also had 1 pallet of tinned tuna donated to us by Talleys in the South Island.
We also contributed over 2,000 individual serve bottles of water to the Titahi Bay Beach Festival earlier this month.
KCA volunteers have also sorted and made up 149 banana boxes of clothing, shoes, linen and homewares plus distributed 1 complete single bed, 1 complete portacot with mattress, 3 car seat/capsules, 1 ironing board, 3 chest of drawers, 1 mirror, 3 dining chairs and a table, microwave, 2 ride on toys, 2 boogie boards, bathroom scales, 1 heater.
Not all of our stats are in from the local foodbanks that we distribute food/non food items to but KCA has assisted over 3,500 people this month.
HUGE THANKS to our dedicated team of volunteers who are out and about 7 days a week doing food rescue at set times from the local supermarkets.
Also thanks to volunteer drivers who go around at set times and clear all our drop off points. We are still not collecting any furniture or whiteware at present as we are short on volunteers to do this.
Thanks to all the volunteers who then sort, box and make up all the orders for the various agencies that we assist.

I am hoping and asking, you neighbours, if you have pretty/funky/individual bigger pots. I am even after any bigger pots that I can paint to suit my homes decor. I would like drip plates too if possible?
Also I need pitting mix and garden gloves to be able to Re pot these plants?
Finally I would appreciate any advice you think of?
Thank you in advance for any help.
