Each year we raise around $30,000 which is distributed to local causes first, but also regional, national and international causes through our affiliation with over 1.4 million Lion members worldwide. Mr Van Bui is also there every week selling fresh fruit and vegetables, some of which come from his property in Levin. This market operates every Saturday Morning of the year except when Christmas day and New Years day fall on a Saturday.

We sell honey and free-range eggs. The eggs come from a local co-operative distributor in packs of 6 (not 4), 12 (not 10), 18 and 24 and trays of 30 (not 20). The more you buy the less you pay per egg. The honey we sell comes from Helens Honey in the Wairarapa with creamed Meadow (light like clover) and Bush (stronger flavour). This week we also have Waireka (Manawatu) Honey Dew (liquid) honey available for tasting and purchase.

We are looking to diversify the range of goods on offer to our customers. We have a solid base of regular customers but there is room to diversify. While we value casual stallholders looking to sell from their car boot, we are most interested in businesses wishing to attend each week with additional products to sell. We offer trial periods and our weekly fees are priced to attract new stallholders.

Tawa Lions gratefully acknowledges the generosity of Outlet City in allowing us to use their site.

Found Cat

Catherine from Tawa

Has anyone lost or own a small black cat? They’ve been coming inside and eating our cat’s food, and we aren’t sure if they’re a stray or not as they’re pretty friendly but skinny. This is up near Hampton Hill Primary

Have you been affected by the latest bus problems? What do you think about the Council shared with the select committee yesterday?

A December 1 deadline has been given to fix major problems with Wellington's struggling new bus network. The eight-week deadline would make sure buses were on time and there was enough space on them. Read more here.

GWRC has also agreed to:
- Extend the route 18e service to a seven-day a week service including service between 6 – 8 PM, from Miramar North to Karori South, providing direct connections to Newtown, the Hospital, Massey University and Victoria University Kelburn Campus
- To reinstate the route 14 service to start from the Kilbirnie hub rather than Hataitai
- Investigate options, a timeframe and implications for route splitting the Route No 2 to provide direct off-peak services from Strathmore Park and Miramar North to the CBD
- Identify options and a timeframe for putting in place morning and evening peak hour services for Route 23 between Mornington/Vogeltown and the Golden Mile;
- Identify options for extending the No 23e (to service the Zoo off-peak)
- Investigate the potential to join the No 12/20/21 services; the No 20/21 services; and/or the No 14/12 services across the City
- Identify the process and timetable for identifying route and service options changes for Churton Park.
