So the 68 year-old Porirua pensioner has joined the growing number of older New Zealanders donating to “Share My Super”.
The non-profit service helps Kiwis over 65 donate to a range of charities by giving all, or part, of their superannuation payment to a charity.
A former civil servant, Gebbie shares his super with the Wellington City Mission and KidsCan. With the polar blast that just hit the Wellington region, he says it’s good to support charities that help keep children warm and safe.

"Hello all, I am Gabe! A fun, loveable boy who has stolen the hearts of everyone at the centre. I am looking for an experienced owner, who has a suitable property for me to thrive in. I'm always up for a walk or a game to play, and I love to find things to do and keep active. I am looking for a home with teenagers or adults, and a home without cats or small animals. I am happy to play with other active dogs, and love to be social with both people and dogs. If you are interested in me and my goofy personality - chat to the canine team."

A proposal to build 30,000 affordable houses, on land between Porirua and Lower Hutt, has little support amongst local body politicians.
Lower Hutt real estate agent John Ross is promoting a plan to develop 1800 hectares, known as the Kilmister Block, as the solution to Wellington’s housing crisis.
Greater Wellington chair Daran Ponter and Porirua Mayor Anita Baker have both rejected the plan, citing its potential ecological value. Ponter supports planting it in natives for carbon emission credits.
What do you think? Is it an idea worth pursuing?
