Kapiti Chorale concert Saturday 7 August

Eric from Ranui

Handel – the name invokes reverence, awe and familiarity. Many of us are familiar with his towering Messiah. The Kapiti Chorale, accompanied by a 16 piece chamber orchestra and two stunning soloists, soprano Caitlin Roberts, and Mezzo soprano Ruth Armishaw, will explore a range of some of Handel’s other music.
The centrepiece of the concert will be his set of 4 Coronation Anthems, written for the coronation of George II of Great Britain in 1727. They have been used in most coronations since then, and are, to varying degrees, familiar and unfamiliar to audiences today. We will also do a selection of pieces from Handel’s oratorio masterpiece Samson, several of his Italian works for soloist or duet, and two selections from Henry Purcell as well.
For an afternoon rich in great English music, make sure to come and hear one of your great local choirs perform at its usual high calibre!
Saturday 7 August, 3:00 pm, St Paul’s Church, Kapiti Road, Paraparaumu.
