Driver Mentors for Former Refugees
We still need a few more volunteer mentors to help former refugees learn to drive in Porirua. The commitment is 2 x 1 hour sessions weekly for 12-16 weeks. We provide a dual control car, driving instructor training and support. It's a fun, rewarding way to make a real difference to the lives of former refugees. Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
