Remote computer support
It can be a bit scary with Covid alert levels going up again, although thankfully here in Marlborough it's only Level 2.
Fortunately, if you have computer issues, as long as you can connect to the internet, you can get local help without having to call anyone out on site.
Team Viewer is a great tool for remote support, and as a bonus, Create IT has no callout fee, although I do have a minimum half hour charge for casual support, but if you need over half an hour of support per month, you'll pay for the actual time used to the nearest minute.
There's a link to a preconfigured version of Team Viewer for quick support at the bottom of this message. (You'll still need to call me on the phone.)
I can offer general software support for common software on Windows, such as Microsoft Office, email etc. I'm also familiar with free alternatives such as LibreOffice if you prefer to use that.
One of my big personal passions is photography, so I have an Adobe Creative Cloud photography subscription, and can help with the basics of Photoshop and Lightroom, and may be able to help with a variety of other photo editing software.
My hourly rate is maybe a bit high to use for training, but if you can get a few friends together, I also have Zoom, which is great for group tutorials via screen sharing, and I'm happy if several people want to split the cost.
Of course with remote support, it doesn't matter if you're not actually in Marlborough, but I do prefer to do work for people I could physically meet for a coffee, and it probably provides greater peace of mind to you too, if you're dealing with a local.
Poll: Is it rude to talk on the phone on a bus?
Buses can be a relaxing way to get home if you have a seat and enough space. However, it can be off-putting when someone is taking a phone call next to you.
Do you think it's inconsiderate for people to have lengthy phone calls on a bus? Vote in the poll, and add your comments below.
