Parking pays

The Team from Marlborough District Council

Council staff and parking wardens have been out on the streets helping people adjust to the new Pay by Plate meters.

While many have got the hang of it, some think that because there isn’t a meter at every parking space, they don’t have to pay. It’s important to remember the Pay by Plate meters are shared meters - this means there’s one meter for every seven parking spaces.

So now, once you’ve parked you simply walk in the direction you’re heading, and when you come to a Pay by Plate meter you pay for your parking – it’s easy.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
