National Volunteer Week (17-23 of June 2018)
celebrates the 1.2 million Kiwis who are volunteering their time and skills to our communities every year.

The theme this year is Volunteers, The Heart of our Community – By many, the work will be completed, Mā tini, mā mano, ka rapa te whai.

We think this captures the essence of what volunteering is about. This is a time to acknowledge how volunteering efforts contribute to and enrich all communities within Aotearoa.

Last week the Marlborough Emergency Response Team got stuck into some hard training with our ‘neighbours’ from Red Cross and Base Woodbourne; it was cold and dark but thankfully not raining. It was a great opportunity for the team to learn and practice their casualty identification and recovery skills, on some pretty rough ground. Here’s a big thanks to Conpavers for letting us use their site and for providing safety information.

Our previous leader has moved out of town but we are very keen to continue. We all love to sing although many of us don't read music but we're quick learners. We particularly enjoy singing in harmony and are open to singing in most genres. If there is anyone who may be interested in joining us in a leader's capacity we would love to hear from you.
