What is the The Blue Door's mission/goal? We aim to be a leading reuse organisation that also supports and gives back to the Marlborough community.
What do your volunteers do? Our volunteers help in a variety of ways; providing customer service, sorting and pricing donated items (e.g. books, toys, linen, clothes, kitchenware), placing priced goods in the shop, and manning the checkout counter. We have approximately 40 volunteers and we couldn't do it without them!
How does The Blue Door support and give back to the community? We provide a welcoming, friendly, non-judgemental place for Marlborough people to buy inexpensive clothing, goods and furniture. However, we are so much more than an 'op shop'. We also give the shop profits back to the Marlborough community by way of grants, provide furniture and goods free to those referred to us by other organisations, provide new Christmas gifts annually for children (distributed by MGC Leos), give jars free to the foodbank, and we are a battery and mobile phone recycling depot!
Where can people follow and connect with you? We're on Facebook: www.facebook.com...

Our Reverse Recruitment program is a FREE service that involves you sitting down with a VM staff member to talk about who YOU are and what YOU want to get out of volunteering. We ask about your dreams, hobbies, skills, passions, experience, future plans, etc. We then build a unique profile and send it out to our network of community organisations and groups so that we can find an opportunity that is tailored just for YOU!

When you consider that definition, a lot of people immediately think of 'formal' volunteering like helping in an op shop or a rest home. However, there are many other types of volunteering; helping at church or on the marae, coaching and managing kids sports teams, or mowing your elderly neighbor's lawn are all examples of volunteering!
Volunteering is really just about helping others, and we strongly believe ALL volunteering should be celebrated!

1. Youth on Boards - a project aimed at increasing the number of youth volunteers (aged 16 to 24) who are recruited, trained, matched, and effectively engaged in decision-making roles on non-profit boards. Getting young people involved in governance is a big passion of ours because re recognise that young people can and should help to shape the future of the Marlborough region.
2. Supported volunteering - An extension of our standard recruitment service but with a focus on the inclusion of people living with disabilities and long-term health conditions (physical and mental). Our Supported Volunteering program matches a volunteer who has a disability or health condition with a co-volunteer and then matches the pair with a suitable volunteer role.
3. Group volunteering - Volunteering is a great group activity, whether it's for a team-building day, a day out with the extended whanau, or a christmas party with a twist. Volunteer Marlborough can help match your group with a volunteering opportunity.
4. Reverse Recruitment - we've taken our recruitment service and flipped it; now we can find a volunteering role to match YOU!
To find out more, or to join in on one of these programs, send us a message, call/txt 021478330, or email vm@volunteermarlborough.org.nz
