Climate Change - Slow Learners
36 years ago UK Doco Warned of Consequences
Nearly 40 years ago in 1981 a UK documentary accurately warned about climate change and rising sea levels. Here on the Peninsula we ignored those warnings and have continued to ignore them for nearly 40 years.
Even when 96% of climate scientists and 180 nations agreed that the problem was real, we were causing it and we needed to take drastic action we continue to allow development on our coast less than 1 m above sea level. This has included subdivisions, housing, waterways projects and retirement villages.
We still don't have accurate mapping of sea flooding hazard or any sort of adaption plan for local communities
