Julie Kaio Reporter from Hauraki Herald

I do hope all the mums in our district had a fabulous Mother’s Day on Sunday.
As a mum of two, I so very much enjoy Mother’s Day more than Father’s Day!
I was well spoilt - brekkie in bed, lunch with my eldest daughter (the younger was busy at a friend’s birthday), then a delicious family dinner where we dined on roast pork, lamb and all the trimmings, followed by sweet treats from The Cheesecake Shop. Yum.
Since having my girls (and that’s a few years ago now), I have developed a new appreciation for just how awesome mums are - and I’m so grateful to mine for being not only a role model, but a very close friend.
Mother’s Day might only come around once a year - but I reckon we should show our mums just how much we adore them, and are thankful for all they do - every day.
I know I’d appreciate it.
Enjoy your Hauraki Herald today :)
Julie

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
