The team at the Hauraki Herald hopes you all had a great Easter.
I certainly did, exploring the countryside and spending quality time with family and friends.
We have had another short week this week - and will do again next week, with Anzac Day on Tuesday, April 25.
The Thames Coromandel and Hauraki districts have a proud history of acknowledging our war time heroes and each year the local RSAs, along with council staff, do a fabulous job paying tribute to those who sacrificed so much.
We’ll have full coverage of Anzac Day events online next week and in print on Friday.

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
