NO JUNK MAIL

Sali from Onerahi

Can someone, anyone, please enlighten me.... Why would Residents want to "decorate" their Letterboxes.... often very attractive letterboxes I might add with captions such as NO JUNK MAIL, NO ADVERTISING MATERIAL, ADDRESSED MAIL ONLY...there are probably others that I may have missed... and in doing so create the immediate impression that they prefer to lead a sheltered life, to remain unchallenged and not even remotely open to opportunities that may present themselves from time to time via this most basic Portal.
I must agree that the Supermarket chains do tend to supply me with an " over abundance of information" but our Council provides us all with an excellent recycling facility so that this really presents little or no problem at the end of the day....
For those of us who have an innovative and enquiring mind and who are keen and, Heaven forbid, energetic enough to choose a Letterbox Drop as being an effective method of getting our message across these nasty and negative little captions are discouraging to say the least.
I do hope someone can provide an explanation that will help me to feel a little more kindly towards the folk who are happy to display " their hearts 'n minds" on their letterboxes 'cos after having spent a great deal of my weekend trudging the streets of our otherwise lovely community I do feel less than charitable towards a very large percentage of my fellow residents.....
I look forward to your comments and feel for those of you who have missed out on some interesting information as a result of your negativity....
