Posting Crime on Social Media is NOT the same as reporting to Police

Bruce Banks from Papamoa Neighbourhood Support

Why do so many people post on Social Media about Property Crimes that they have been a victim of & not make a Police Report?
Maybe it is because:
THE OFFENCE IS MINOR: It's never too minor-it could be part of a pattern in your area that the Police are investigating. It could be the beginning of some new criminal activity that can be nipped in the bud. It could also be part of a developing pattern that the Police can give extra attention by way of patrols in the area.
THE POLICE WILL SEE YOUR POST: Not necessarily, & unless you report the offence properly at the Police Station, you are just helping the offenders get away with this offending.
YOU DO NOT WANT TO WASTE POLICE TIME: There is no such thing as wasting Police time unless your complaint is bogus.
THE POST IS EXAGGERATED OR SECOND HAND INFORMATION: Sometimes the information posted is not an accurate representation of the facts & can unnecessarily concern your neighbours.

Every fortnight Papamoa Neighbourhood Support put out the OFFICIAL notification of reported Property Crime in Papamoa. This includes burglary, attempted burglary, vehicle break-ins & vehicle thefts.

If you are not a member of a NS Street Group, or are not receiving our e-Newsletter, then it's time to get in touch so that you can get all the Property Crime from the OFFICIAL Source.

Please remember that if an offence is being committed you must call the Police immediately to give our Police the best chance of apprehending the culprit--"IT'S NOT OK TO DO NOTHING"
Call 111 & let the call centre prioritise your call*****
