Bloom Pukekohe Op Shop
Customers have been asking, "Who is Bloom Pukekohe? What is Bloom Pukekohe? When we shop here who is it we are supporting?"
Bloom Pukekohe was started in 2015 by 3 women, parents and teachers of young adults with an intellectual disability. Knowing the young adults were about to finish high school they searched for meaningful activities for them to do in our community.
Realising there wasn't much available they started up Bloom Pukekohe, a small gardening group with just 6 participants. All of the flowers and plants were sold at local markets.
Fast forward 10 years and the Bloom Pukekohe programme now has over 80 participants attending every week! Ranging in age from 17 - 76 years old. The activities increased to include creating garden art, crafts, woodwork, painting, sewing, knitting and baking.
Bloom is a safe inclusive environment where our participants come to learn new skills, socialise and grow their potential. Check out the photos of our awesome Thursday crew hard at work yesterday at Bloom Pukekohe in Franklin Road on the Bloom Pukekohe Facebook page.
