Anti-Viral Island Tea
I came across this recipe today and thought it was worth sharing. Each ingredient offers unique immunity supporting benefits. A variety of studies indicate that curcumin, a substance found in turmeric root, improves the health and adaptability of immune cells. Ginger strengthens digestive health (the health of the gut is closely linked to the immune system).
Honey can function as an effective all-natural cough suppressant, and citrus fruits like lemons, limes, and oranges, can improve immune function.
Ingredients:
Large chunk fresh ginger, peeled and chopped (7- 8 cms)
Large chunk fresh turmeric, peeled and chopped (7- 8 cms)
About 6 cups of water
2 teaspoons raw honey
Juice of 2 lemons
Step 1: Bring water, ginger and turmeric to boil over medium-high heat in a large saucepan, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 2: Stir in honey and lemon juice. Strain tea and drink. Can be serve with additional honey and lemon wedges if desired.
