Hi Auckland,

Put down the oil, wet wipes and nappies, because your city has 'fatbergs' on it's hands! Auckland's sewerage system is choking on 'fatbergs' - which are large, smelly solid masses that cause blockages in the wastewater system. Watercare spends about $1 million to remove them each year.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you know what can and can't be flushed, or tipped down the sink? How do you think this smelly problem could be resolved? Let us know in the replies!

ACC Minister Hon. Iain Lees-Galloway recently swapped his suit for shorts and a tee to join a ‘Live Stronger for Longer’ strength and balance class. These classes help us as we age to retain lower body and core strength, remaining active to avoid falls.

No-one is bullet proof, falls happen and some can result in broken bones, pain and long healing times and can also make us fearful of falling again. Losing confidence can really affect quality of life.

Live Stronger for Longer strength and balance classes are growing nationwide. Visit www.livestronger.org.nz and join a class near you, you’ll find lots of practical information, advice and resources on how to live an active, healthy and independent life.

Proudly brought to you by ACC, MoH, HQSC and your local community health providers.

I am after somebody to remove labels from a large number of silk and linen garments and then sew on new label replacements. This has to be a professional quality job, I'm talking about a couple of thousand items.
If interested please contact me to discuss details.
I've had several enquiries since last night.. Thank you . To clarify a couple of points:
I'm looking for a qualified person to come to our Bombay warehouse where all the clothes are on rails and do the job here, so we are able to keep all the clothes in their proper storage positions. This will mean bringing your required equipment with you. There are around 300 items and depending on the right person's qualifications, speed of work etc I can pay between 70 cents and $1.00 per item.
Thanks and Regards. Ian (in Bombay)

Surprising secret to liveable neighbourhoods

Housing New Zealand

Housing our growing population inevitably means building more houses in closer proximity to one another. It’s a big change for Kiwis who grew up with the idea of the ‘quarter acre paradise’. But research shows that residents of higher density suburbs actually tend to be happier and healthier. Read more here

Operation Pencil will see increased Police patrols as a significant operation is launched cracking down on serious and vehicle crime throughout the Auckland West.

Historically, car and other crime spikes from mid-July to early September and police are committed to this prevention-focused operation to address this peak period. Police will be targeting high crime areas such as carparks, shopping malls, gas stations and railway stations and known priority crime offenders.

Vehicle crime will be a particular focus for us and we know the most common types of cars targeted by thieves in this area are:
- Mazda Demio
- Subaru Legacy
- Mazda Familia
- Subaru Impreza.

Seventy per cent of vehicles that are stolen in the Auckland City District are recovered, however, the Police aim is to reduce the offending occurring in the first place. Operation Pencil will conclude on August 24, 2018.

More information at the Police website.
