South Auckland choir have presented many concerts at Crossroads Methodist Church over the past 45 years and to celebrate this milestone the Choral Society is hoping that lots of people who like to sing will join them. No audition required. High School students especially welcomed.
Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30pm in Crossroads Church, Broadway, Papakura so come along and join us. Lots of help given if you aren’t sure about anything in the music; our conductor is a huge help!!

Recipe: 1 tsp Bone Marrow Broth Concentrate
1 tblsp Collagen Hydrolysate (for extra collagen)
1/2 tsp Jing Tonic Blend
1 cup of boiling water
Bone broth contains collagen, vitamins, minerals and conjugated linoleic acid (Omega 6). Collagen provides protein, reduces inflammation, supports joints, bones, digestive health/gut lining repair, and skin and hair.
Jing Tonic Blend contains Cordyceps medicinal mushroom blended with herbs. It helps to restore hormone function, counter exhaustion, increase power and stamina, heal and replenish joints ligaments and tendons, and strengthens knees hips and lower back.
This is a potent blend, and an enjoyable drink. People are feeling improvements to their overall health, and really look forward to their morning drink. It makes a pleasant change from swallowing a lot of supplements.

All voting papers must be returned to the relevant council by midday on Saturday 12 October, and voters need to factor in the time it will take the papers to get through the postal system.
New Zealand Post advises that the Standard Post delivery target is up to 3 working days for nationwide delivery, while delivery to and from rural areas may take longer. However, these targets are guides only, and are not guaranteed – delivery may take longer.

“Some of the main reasons people give for not voting are they forgot, ran out of time or were too busy,” says LGNZ Chief Executive Malcolm Alexander.
“So to make sure people give themselves the best chance to have their say we are encouraging people to vote early on what we’ve dubbed Vote Day. Fill out your papers during the week and then to pop them in the paid envelope and into the nearest post box on Saturday 5 October.”
“Voting papers have to arrive at council offices by midday Saturday 12 October, so sending them in on Vote Day gives them plenty of time to get through the postal system.”
Mr Alexander says it is important New Zealanders participate in the selection of the people who will make decisions that affect most people’s lives on a daily basis.
“Local government shapes the place that you live. It’s the pavements you walk on, the roads where you drive, the water you drink, shower in and swim in, your parks, libraries and swimming pools where you take the kids,” Mr Alexander says.
“There’s been a lot of robust public conversation around climate change, the housing crisis, the quality of our water and our transport options, and now is the time to turn that conversation into a vote that influences your local leadership.”
“Voters can still post their papers after 5 October, but there is no harm in doing it earlier,” Mr Alexander says.
Eligible voters who didn’t enrol before 16 August won’t receive their papers in the mail, but can make a special vote by visiting their local council offices, or by contacting their Council Electoral Officer.

But there's a problem.....
If you are a regular attendee then you will have noticed that over the past ~3 years there has been a marked decline in the quality (and to some extent, quantity of what's on offer) and (strangely) the corresponding absence of used book dealers and their minions blocking the aisles and voraciously sweeping up the book piles.
I smell a rat!!
The correlation between sparse offerings and absent book dealers tells me they're getting first crack at it before 'official' opening day and the Muppet public are offered only the left-overs.
This is not the first time this has occurred. They were 'outed' by the media over this very same issue a few years ago and it rather seems to me that it's a case of 'old habits die hard' and they're now back at it again.
I have no hard proof but on the balance of probabilities.....
Don't know about you but I still believe in a fair go on a level playing field - never mind that we in rural areas have a lot further to travel to attend, only to end-up being served up a plate of disappointment.
If you have concerns or share my suspicions then don't hesitate to let the organisers know, maybe they'll take fright at being caught out and get the message!
