Neighbours Days Aotearoa 2021. From March 20th to March 30th 2021.

Iola from Awapuni

Hi neighbours, I would like to suggest that our Neighbourly Leads consider running a day to celebrate Neighbours Day 2021. Some years ago, the Awapuni Leads ran a stall at St Marks Church fair for neighbours day. Neigbourly supplied us with a large banner, t shirts, giveaways and balloons. We were lucky enough to get funding from mayor Grant Smiths Mayoral fund of a few hundred dollars, that paid for face painting and balloon animals created by a local resident. Our local members all contributed to to a Care and Share table which had jams relishes seeds plants and some craft items. We were also able to supply to a local scout group sausages for a give away sausage sizzle and a donation of water bottles from a local business was really appreciated. I do think that after the chaos of March/April/May 2020, it would be good to see something positive for March 2021. Look on the website Neighbours Day Aotearoa and see what resources are available from that site.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
